love the domed crystal; placed an order for black dial/plongeur hands.

I'm located in EU, so bummers on the VAT, but still a great offer. Now the waiting begins:]

Great edit job SuperP, I agree with your thoughts, and that is why I am leaning towards the White dial with modern hands.
Any chance you could edit the white dial to show that handset, greatly appreciate it.
Good luck with your decision.

Thanks for the effort in coming out with a mock-up of the Black Dial Plongeur version !
Very much appreciated.
Now I can see what I'm looking to get.

Made some edits for the black dial w plongeur hand, so people can make an idea about how it looks [hope i did it right]. This is the version im looking after myself but still a bit bugged about the date thing[ it isnt white on black], so ill wait a bit before i decide to jump in[if ill jump in] :)
Everything else looks really great, nice job.

Thanks for the pic, it's quite helpful (makes me be more certain of my choice of modern hands... the polongeur's hour is too small for my taste, with not enough lume)...
Anyway, regarding the date, I'm totally different from you. I feel that the white disc just makes the windows look (from a foot away or more) look like a continuation of the index. And the both of them have about the same size as the 9h index! So I much prefer that it's black on white. White on black would have looked a bit unbalanced, methinks...

This really is a fantastic deal, considering what you get for the price.
These specs are actual L'ocean specs in every way, except of course the 2824-2. The Miyota 9015 is just as good, so no big deal.
Just noticed the addition of the antimagnetic rating on the new specs list, also as per L'ocean ! The icing on the cake is it's even made by the same people !
Twin Viton seals too.
I was also not aware that the Scorpionfish case has 2 HEVs !
All in all, really great.

Here's a quick and dirty mockup of what it would have looked like with the black disc and white number date.... Not as good as what we get, I feel...

Also, regarding what appears to be two helium release valves, are the both really valves and functional (at different pressures?) or is it just one and the other is a "plug" of sorts to fill in the place where the tube and crown was?

Yes, definitely looks unbalanced with the white on black date wheel.
The white date wheel balances things out.
Good question about the 2 HEVs, whether the bottom one is really a valve or filling the original crown site.

14.5mm height and 2000m water resistant? How comes? It is all due to physics and engineering of both watch case, crystal and case back.

Watch collectors are used to have a case back that protrudes outside but the Borealis Scorpionfish doesn't. So how can this incredible water resistance be achieved you may ask?

The case back uses same principle as in photography with a bayonet style case back so that the case back screws inside case and directing all pressure to that particular side.

Instead of confronting water pressure with a very strong and thick case back with this type of construction pressure gets diverted to the bayonet of watch case back where all resistance can be applied.

You can pre-order your Borealis Scorpionfish at our store

Well to each his own, the world its beautiful and varied because we all have different tastes and ideas. Basically, i already cant stand the date on a diver[...its like so useless to me...] at least if the disc is black on a black dial, i notice it less and in this case imho would have been better, but hey, like the admin said, we cant have it all like we want and sometimes we need to make compromises, even if in this case the project had from the beginning a version with black dial and black disc. [but i do understand the fact that the factory didnt had those in stock and delaying the project wasnt an option]. :)

Here ive made a fast render with the white dial and modern hands:

Here is the other in case you didnt noticed on the last page :)

Hi Maria,

I've share the start of the pre-order of the Scorpionfish, the technical specs an a picture of the watch in the german watch-forum "Uhr-Forum", where I'm member. It's one of the greatest german watch forums and so I hope, some german watch enthusiasts use the chance to serve the watch deal of 2015!

As I mentioned in another forum, I think the best rubber strap for the Scorpionfish would be the Bonetto Cinturini 322, in either black or orange.
This also happens to be the exact OEM rubber provided in the L'ocean kit.
