Pre-Order Borealis Estoril 300m Automatic

Well, coming a bit late in the discussion and, after reading 18 pages of passionated posts, is there still any discussion or issues to be discussed ?

Anyway, just a few short comments on that new Borealis project :

1. I am fond of the chosen theme
2. I am buying all basic options retained : size, BG9, date/no date choice...
3. Will go for the date option and i definitely prefer the 3 position and framed window
4. Regarding models with date, i prefer the one with the big triangle, more consequent to original "tribute" project. But, my feeling is that majority of date lovers here are more to the other version with no triangle and 12 index ? I like it too though.
5. Much like the italic render of watch name, would stick with the "m" after 300. Looks more diver to me.
6. Consequently, i am ready to preorder as soon as available !

One question to Maria : are you considering to engrave the factory nato buckle with your brand name (as Phoenix does for example) ?

Like others, waiting for latest renderings and price estimation.

Best regards

Great project and will be a fantastic watch.

I'm actually coming to this party very late. I haven't read every post in the 18 pages, but I take it the DLC option was dropped?
That probably makes sense with this being a homage, but I do think this would look awesome in DLC.

Interest so far on a DLC edition has been pretty minimal and therefore we decided to discontinue that option. However we have increased customisation to 4 different types with 2 dials and date/no date option.

That isn't an underscore under the numbers. It's just part of the marker which would've been there if the number hadn't been there and allows for perfect centre alignment with the marker on the dial.
The bezel has discrete clicks, which will allow you to achieve the necessary alignment of the bezel without an explicit need for the marker.

Totally agree. No need for a B or a T or whatever. Saying it's got Tritium was sort of important at the time because that meant the luminous material was not a radioactive compound like radium or promethium 147. It's the Royal Navy and Omega's equivalent of the famous "no rad" logo on the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms of 1965.
Nowadays, nobody uses radioactive compounds for lume, so it'd be a bit over the top to have something like that on the watch. Plus, well, simpler's better...
Tritium is radioactive, and it's still used in tritium tubes on some watches.

Tritium is about as radioactive as you are, that is "a very very little bit" but sure enough that bit does exist. And it was/is a great step forward as it replaced radium or promethium which are "health-threateningly" radioactive.

Yeah, 2 for every minute, which you magically position right... Or count with the tactile tip of your fingers.

Here's the updated version with the centered numbers on the bezel ;)

ps: i kinda like the 300m text, i dont know why yall wanna get rid of that xD
SuperP,

First off, thanks for your effort on the renderings.

Out of the four configurations, I like both layouts on the lower row which seem to provide the best symmetry. Of the bottom two, I do favour the no-date version.

However, I do respect that a good percentage of fellow forum members do favour the large inverted triangle as the 12-hour index to better reflect the style and feel of the vintage version.

As the project team has already disclosed that there will be four available configuration, we should be rest-assured that at least one version will be more than acceptable for acquisition.

I wonder if the Estoril 300s will be ready for the Christmas holiday of this year or will they likely be ready after the New Year!

What about the "automatic" mention ? Any consideration about it ? Would finalise the project pretty nicely, according to me. Just under model name. BRGDS

Man, so much has happened since I first checked in in this thread.

Thank you so much Maria for agreeing to both dials with date and no date. My only problem will be trying to decide which one to buy. I might have to buy 2 or 3.

Needs a font size right in between those 2...more like the original. I'm sure the factory renders will get it. Nice work though!

Thank you, SuperP for helping us visualize the various styles with your renderings. I also think a font size in between those two you have switching back and forth would be better. Can't wait for more updates from Maria on pricing and availability.

Yeah, something between the two would be great.
And some of the problem of the smaller font you propose is that void below, so having them slightly enlarged and moved down so that the base of the number line up with the base of the indices lines would totally do the trick.

Nice job and rendering... what about a version with date, at 3, and a framed window for the date ? My choice ! Best regards

I made those numbers big enough so they could align nicely with the dial markings.
Heres another take on it with a slightly smaller font [i hope i wont bother Maria with these renderings im posting - just doing it for fun when i have some spare time and see how people respond to some small ideas ;D]
- tried a blue navy too for the dial and bezel:

ps: i believe people need to know that this is an automatic watch too :D
