New Vulcanised Rubber Straps

Hi,

Rather than cluttering up the watch preorder threads :

Maria, do you have any design pictures of the new vulcanised rubber straps coming?

So far my understanding is black-only, 22mm, but no specifics on design.

Cheers!

At the moment only 3D designs can be shared from CAD system.

Straps are on route!

To develop this strap it took us over a year to find the right formula mix and it was a huge financial investment of ours. However we have kept price for now in $15.00 USD so that we are not criticized that price increased for us to take advantage on people purchasing those to claim a 15% pre-order discount.

As is strap is being sold almost at cost.

To develop a new color factory asks us for 1000 straps so we have to move this slowly. We have already trials made for the orange and dark blue. Both look nice but we simply do not have funds now to invest in those.

So to help us develop new colors we need the black version to be a huge success.

Thanks for the update Maria. I already ordered a black one and hopefully we'll get to see an orange iteration down the line. I'm excited to see how this strap feels

I ordered one .... but over the colors, I would have preferred the choice of measures 22 or 24 mm.

The rubber strap is already 22mm. Yes but problem is the same.

A new mould requires a minimum quantity of 2000 pcs. So we will only advance for a 24 and 20mm version if demand
exists on the current version.

You really need to try one of the 22mm straps to attest quality of the rubber, really premium feel and flexible too.

Once anyone receives it, please post the comparison with the old version. I was a bit disappointed with the feeling of the old version - very "rubbery", almost silicone like. If the new one is more like plastic, I'll purchase it for sure :)

The old version had no silicone at all. As it was made of rubber that was reason to feel rubbery I guess. However the new strap has a total different material and is made of vulcanized rubber but not easy to find the correct mix but we finally did it after a year of several trials.

I understand that there wasn't any silicone before, just saying that the old strap reminds me of such material. I like everything about it except how it feels against skin. I much prefer the plastic PU (like Casio g-shock) to touch, even though they are not so flexible etc. Could you please try to compare the new one to some other material we might know? I didn't have genuine Iso in hands yet, but I guess that the new version is closer to it, right..?

I guess that I can just order one and try it myself, though the postage cost is quite high and I don't want to end up with another rarely used strap :)

Mix of rubber used for production of the strap you talk about and costs almost 10 times the price of the Borealis rubber strap is fairly similar, yes.

Ordered 2 of the rubber straps - they look great! Now to place my order for the Seafarer II and Batial (need to look at the renderings a bit to decide which versions to order).
