I don't care about the box actually, since it will rest in my watchbox at the end so I agree, is better to cut corners in packaging to provide a better value to the actual time piece. For example the new box for Omega watches alone is on $500 Which is crazy...

Makara seems like a solid option at the end they cut corners on expensive stuff like the wood box that cames with Ancon watches with basically is useless.

It's a trend, actually stainless steel should be more expensive than bronze.
Brass is brighter, softer and develops patina more slowly and less beautifully than bronze
