Crowdfunding watch projects

Nowadays with internet getting becoming part of day life and almost a commodity (even here in Africa) we see the rise of niche markets, specially for mechanical watches.

With appearance of crowd funding websites many projects from start up companies appear at kickstarter.com, indiegogo.com to name a few.

For me it is nice to see the videos and photos of each individual project, such as the Helgray Silverstone that could be purchased for $229.00 USD with a Seiko Time Module meca quartz VK64 movement.

Have you participated in past crowd funding watches? If so can you share your experience? What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages of that model?

I think crowd funding is going to be huge for the watch industry over the next few years. People want craftsmanship and affordable pricing and crowd funding allows small startups to connect with people and deliver on those aspects.

Hegrays design is awesome. I wish it was mechanical, but not the end of the world in a chrono, especially if it's inexpensive and looks awesome. Specifically love the retro look on chronos lately like the Tudor heritage blue.

Also, I made a site for crowd founders looking for more traffic or another place to promote their watch startup. Http://WatchJudge.com
