Paypal Item disputes - Considering Not to Use Postal Services

Some buyers have been starting to scam us. They place order, choose shipping via post office. A couple of weeks after they create a Item Not Received Dispute even after we place the tracking details.

In our page we advertise that shipping via post office may take over 5 weeks but seems that some abuse system.

Paypal asks us to refund money to buyer. We proceed with refund as we have no other way around.

A week after item arrives to buyer. We kindly ask buyer to pay us since they received item.

No reply to our emails.

This I call FRAUD!

Because of bad buyers we may end up stop using postal services for shipping watches.

One thing about FEDex over USPS is that USPS doesn't charge for customs here in the states. I'd hate to see that shipping option go.

This is also more of a symptom of Paypal than it is the postal system. Paypal has literally gotten their heads even more up their arses than even a year ago with the new rules they've put in place. Instead of being an escrot house and neutral arbitrating party, like they should be, they always side with the buyer. I don't get it myself, they are not a retailer but a form of payment.

Maybe take a different form of payment than Paypal?

The real problem is that, even if you wait 5 weeks, there's no way for you to know if they are scamming you or they never received the watch.
This for me would be reason enough to avoid using a shipping method that takes 5 weeks
And I agree that Paypal sucks and should be avoided.
But it's easy for europe because we can transfer the money via SEPA with the bank at no cost or maybe 1€, not sure what would be the cost with USA or Australia.
Moreover, even your own bank will apply hefty charges for wires coming from outside Europe.

Maybe as the business grows, you can have real credit card charging.

Back to the topic, for those who want postal service, get the money through paypal without connection to the sale, just as "money transfer" instead of "payment" for something.
If they are in good faith, they'll have no objection.

It may take slightly more time on your end, but the scammers would be gone.

I just realized I should've suggested this earlier as its something I've been doing on my private sales to protect myself. And it looks like Paypal will accept it as a form of "Seller Protection"...IE verification that the item was delivered.

Best thing to do is pay for "Signature Confirmation". It's basically proof that the customer received the item and they can not claim it was not received. Only caveat is that the item has to be sent to the verified paypal address. Which I guess isn't that big of a deal, since why would you send to any other address not listed on Paypal's site?

Here's the line from Paypal's site about "seller protection", straight from them...

Protection for items not received
When you ship to the address on this page and provide proof that the item was delivered and signed for, you're protected against claims for items not received. For complete requirements, see terms.

Obviously not full proof (nothing really is), but just another layer of protection. And in this instance, a customer can not lie and say they didn't receive the item and then ask for a refund. I always pay for insurance, tracking, and signature confirmation now.

This is true. But after the customer has signed for the item, you can go back to PayPal and have them charge back the customer because you now have proof they received the item and in fact signed for it.

Now just hope customers will have enough balance on their paypal account as otherwise in case they do not have balance or a credit card with balance linked to account we may end up not getting the money back so all fingers crossed.

Just as a note, I ordered a watch from another company and I had to pay an extra $42 tax for using fedex type courier plus fedex charged me $86 in fees!! Postal Service for me please. .

Sorry to hear about your company being scammed no one wins from these situations,not that long ago Benarus had a similar problem in Russia by the post office or the customer,good luck I hope you have a positive outcome and whoever is doing this gets a shitload of bad Karma.
