By TLex Introducing the new WRX Edition Manufacture Pirates, one of two new avant-garde creations (that includes the TORPEDO) from RALF TECH's new Novowatch atelier based in Le Locle in Neuchate, Switzerland.

The Pirate theme is not an uncommon one with RALF TECH; this is their third model dedicated to the cutlass wielding, rum drinking, plundering scallywags of the high-seas. See also the: WRV C Automatic PIRATES / WRX ''A'' Hybrid black PIRATES

The Manufacture Edition Pirates is powered by the Manual Mechanical Calibre type 77, details of which can be found at the bottom of the post. Its case has been constructed from 316L surgical Stainless steel case that has been treated with a matte black DLC coating. It has a diameter 47.5 mm (without crown). It case design is actually based on a very one of RALF TECH's divers currently in use by more than ONE branch of the French Special Forces!

It features include: a 2.4mm-thick anti-reflective treated Sapphire crystal, a reinforced and protected screw-down crown, a Sapphire crystal exhibition caseback affording a view of the Pirates' manufacture movement with its hand-decorated rotor, a Stainless steel unidirectional divers bezel with a hand-polished Ruthenium dive-time scale and a water-resistance to 300 meters! For reference, Ruthenium is a rare hard white metal and is a member of the platinum group.

Presented on a 26mm black Louisiana alligator strap and in a luxury black wooden box , the WRX Manufacture "Pirates" is issued in a Limited Edition of 5 pieces. It is the second model in RALF TECH’s new Editions Manufacture series, showcasing what the French dive watch brand are able to achieve as an artisan Manufacture!

The Pirates is accompanied by the WRX Edition Manufacture Torpedo - also equipped with a manufacture movement, the mechanical manual caliber Type 63. Both models were officially unveiled at the Parisian Salon ‘Belles Montres’ on November 21st. The following models in the series will be presented at Baselworld 2015.

Master WIS
Sorry but this Ralf Tech WRX Edition Manufacture Pirates powered by a Calibre type 77 movement does not do it for me.

The dial is plain ugly and with bad taste. The bezel a total mess and not even illuminated so what is the purpose of it?

Also the calibre 77 looks to me a Unitas?

Specs taken from their site http://www.ralftech-manufacture.com/mouvements-calibre-mecanique-manuel-type-77.php:

Manual Mechanical Calibre type 77
  • Manufactured Mechanical skeleton movement
  • Manual winding
  • Diameter 35.50 mm
  • Number of jewels : 17
  • Frequency: 3Hz, 21,600 alternations / hour
  • Balance Angle 44°
  • Spring barrel length 540mm (Ø14,65mm)
  • Yoke system with coupling wheel
  • Manufactured "slim" bridge anchor
  • Manufactured Pawl winding
  • Spiral spring type: Spiral of Archimedes
  • Inertial Balance wheel: diamond-hardened and gold-plated
  • Fully skeletonized Main bridge on dial, decorated with blasted ruthenium coating
  • Manufactured barrel bridge, gear train bridge, and gear cock, decorated with blasting with a ruthenium coating
  • Power reserve 50 hours

So basically what they do is coating their movement with ruthenium, changing spring to have extra hours power resistance and that is it.

This also sums it all:
The WRX Manufacture "Pirates" is issued in an ultra limited edition of 5 pieces
so basically a rich guy ordered it to them and they made it as money is good.
