A question for you Estoril owners:

I have noticed recently, that I can hear a scraping sound, coming from the watch.

I assume this is the rotor spinning around.

I did not notice this initially when I wore the watch after I received it, but I just noticed this tonight.

Is this normal? Have others heard this noise?

It is quite noticeable.

Although I have not receive my 2 Estoril yet, my exeperience with five 9015s say that this is fine. Fyi, my Tatoskok is loudest and Arctic Patrol is the quietest.

I'd echo what SimpleWatchMan says - it's normal for this movement. The rotor winds the mainspring in one direction only, when it turns in the non-winding direction it has little resistance and spins quite quickly and that's what you're hearing. Occasionally you can feel a slight wobble due to the imbalance caused by a rapidly spinning rotor. No need for any worry.

I am amazed of the great job you have made with the Estoril.
I am from Spain so I received my C1 estoril early and I am fully satisfied for this beautiful watch.
It is perfect for my little wrist. Thanks and regards

Where did you find that ratchet clasp? I would love to have one for the shark mesh I just ordered for my Black Dial type A.

Got my first shark mesh bracelet today, a cheap one from Amazon. I already had a cheap ratchet clasp sitting in a drawer at home for a couple of years so I stuck it on the mesh, cut it to size and tried it on. Having not had one before I was surprised by how light it was. It had the flattened links on one side like Ed P.'s and on the opposite side it had the rounded, standard links. I fitted it with the rounded ones to the outside as they reflected less light. I still prefer the heavier solid bracelet but the watch looks more retro on the shark mesh. The Estoril is so versatile, it looks good on so many different straps and bracelets. Another 6.5" wrist here and it wears great.

I got it a few years ago from Watch-band-centre.com. They only seem to have the 18mm version now on their website whereas you need the 20mm:

As can be seen, it's not expensive but that is reflected in the quality as well. It's is far less quality than one from Strapcode - but that costs over 4 times the price.

I've had mine on my wrist since I picked it up last Saturday night, looks like it's running at +1 per day. I I have it on Omega mesh with the seat belt clasp, this is what works with my extension so I can wear it on my drysuit, the plan is to dive with it Saturday.

I really appreciate the slow shipping, 5 days to delivery, one of the high points is the box, the perfect place to cut costs, I don't wear the box and once I accept a watch as a wearer I'm unlikely to ever see it again.

This is, I believe, the best micro I've ever bought.

The Borealis Nato is really well made. But I'm not a great fan of nato's. So I fitted my Estoril with a black "Obrisfrane" - Rubberstrap.

In my opinion this strap works really good with the Estoril.

The quality of this isofrane styled rubber strap from Obris Morgan is not so far from an original isofrane, but You get it for under 20 USD. I think it's a really good choice and I love it on my Estoril(y)

Cool. I have the same 20 mm rubber strap that came with my Obris Morgan Explorer II.

Nice pairing Andre - I'm going to order these for my two Estorils and pick up a black and blue 20mm vanilla scented natural rubber Orbis Morgan strap. $37.80 USD shipped for the two straps! Great and inexpensive alternative to the stock NATO strap. I love the Borealis formula rubber strap (and I think that is the best buy in the market - I wear my Borealis Batial on that strap and love it), but with no 20mm options at the moment these Orbis Morgan straps will work. Thanks for sharing the pics and suggestion Andre!

@ SimpleWatchMan: Put the "Obrisfrane" on Your Estoril and enjoy this Combo(y)

@ GOPENNSTATE: I have the Borealis Rubber on my Borealis Sea Dragon and my Prometheus Piranha. The Borealis Rubber is good, but in direct comparsion with the Obris Morgan Rubber the "Obrisfrane" wins in my opinion, because the Borealis Rubber is a little bit more stiffer than the Obrisfrane. I have also ordered a Bonetto Cinturini Rubber Mod. 281 for my Estoril. But in a side by side - comparsion also the "Obrisfrane" wins for me because the quality feeling is better.

All over I think, the Estoril 300 is actually the watch deal of the year and at the moment the best release of Borealis. I owned the Sea Hawk, the Sea Dragon, the Scorpionfish and now the Estoril. All this watches are really good and I think, You can call all of them no brainers or bargains. But the Estoril hits them all. Only the Scorpionfish (one of my favorite watches) is near on pair with the Estoril. But his is my personally taste.

I suppose you are referring to the polyurethane straps that were supplied with the Piranha and the Sea Dragon. Our vulcanized rubber strap is a totally different mix and vulcanized rubber. I dare to say it is the most supple and comfortable rubber strap in market.

At the moment we have it only in 22mm size with a 24mm size to be ready in about a months time. We will then work on a 20mm version.

@ James: It's a Mosquito in the Night-Hunter Version NF.II

@ Maria: That's right, Maria! I mean the polyurethane straps, who cames with Piranha and Sea Dragon. I don't know, that Borealis have now new vulcanized rubber straps. Sorry for this mistake!

Nice. A Classic WWII aircraft.

My "Black Arabic-Date" arrived a few days ago while I was away in western Canada. My jaws dropped upon opening the package and unwrapped the Estoril 300. The fit and finish was top grade. The case exudes substance and sophistication many times beyond the price of this watch. The crown action was smooth and the beautiful sapphire bezel is dead on with very minimal play.

I could not say enough for the excellent job that Maria and her team have done. This watch is simply a "stunner"!

Count me in for both the NATO and 20-mm rubber straps.... :)
