Pre-Order Borealis Estoril 300m Automatic

Good catch Narc'd, something only a cold water diver is likely to notice

It's my home made version of the Omega extension offer back in the day.
With a drysuit, no regular strap will reach around the suit and all of the insulation

I have all of my normal cold use watches on seatbelt type clasps, which ever watch I'm wearing I just take it off and clip on the extension, suit up and snap it over the outside of the suit, pull the strap tight and i'm good to go. Even nato and other straps need an extension.

Lexvil - very clever, I like that. I've never seen a seatbelt clasp in person - I always wondered could you accidentally catch it and drop the watch. Most likely not but they're the things you wonder about while watch-daydreaming! I have small wrists, I can get away with some standard clasp extensions over a 6.5mm wetsuit when worn low enough on the arm. Don't dive as much as I used to now but my drysuit had neoprene seals - could wear the watch on the seal as they were actually thinner than my wetsuit, just under the cuff of the glove where it was half protected. I sometimes cox'n a small rescue boat so I have to have to be able to stick my watch on over a surface drysuit although it's handy with silicone seals. Whatever watch I'm wearing - it has to have some form of clasp extension/adjustability.

My old drysuit had shorter sleeves so I could wear my watch on my wrist below the seal, my new suit has longer sleeves and quick replacement seal system so if I wear it on the wrist it is hidden by the seal rings.

Still on the nato (it's very nice, with the sole problem being that given my 8 inch wrist it's a tad too short for me to be able to loop the strap back in the last metal retainer).

But I'll soon try it on my vintage tropic. Should work quite well with that.

Really nice piece of work! To Borealis, Maria and everyone who were involved from the design phase to the final end product, a big thank you. :)

Dear Maria

I just received my blue triangle no date today after you shipped it on June 22nd (shipping time= 2 weeks exactly – Location= Ottawa, Canada).

I must say that the previous reviews have not provided me with an inkling of how astonishing beautiful this creation has evolved into the current rendition.

CLF = Watch 9.5 & NATO strap 9.5 (my T level has spiked)

Functionality = 9 very versatile

Design = 9 very chic/retro

Quality = 9 no issues to report

Positive = Blue is the BEST & NATO strap was an excellent choice

Negative = I did not purchase the black yet...

WELL DONE!!!
Joe

Another Youtube review:

Great video review! Probably the best one yet. It summed up my feel about this watch.

Now, another shot of the blue ...

I am not a nato strap guy, even though I tried by buying and trying on many, many nato straps. But I must say that the straps that come with the Estorils are really good. They are thick and strong, yet soft and comfortable.

Anyway, off the nato straps it will go for me ... :)

It has a perfect bezel action, as a dive watch, this from a diver not someone who plays with the bezel, it performed perfectly in the water. The bezel never got bumped off of set like looser bezels do, any looser and I would have sold it the same day it arrived.
Would love to see a nice frontal pic of your watch with the Omega seat-belt mesh.

Enjoy your Estoril !

I saw Bruce Williams video review where he says the finishing is not omega level. Well I have an omega speedmaster. I would have a hard time judging the difference in a blind test.

Bruce William is probably right. But all of us who bought the Estoril, understands the value proposition of this watch.

Assuming that Omega is 100% finishing quality, imho Estoril is probably around 80-95%, which is more than good enough for me, considering that I paid just a fraction of Omega's price.

And don't get me started on how much I need to pay for a mint condition 1967 "MilSub" ... :p

I've eventually put it on the Tropic I had planned for it from the time of the pre-order... Took a few days for that, as the nato is really very nice (and works perfectly for the Estoril).

Here it is... a very good match, methinks!
