Pre-Order Borealis Estoril 300m Automatic

I've eventually put it on the Tropic I had planned for it from the time of the pre-order... Took a few days for that, as the nato is really very nice (and works perfectly for the Estoril).

Here it is... a very good match, methinks!

Great pics and strap.

Cool distortion on the first one.

What brand of Tropic strap is that and where did you get it? I have an Oris '65' and tried that excellent Tropic on the Estoril and it would be superb, would love to repilicate that with another Tropic strap.

Both look great. Curious, which dial you like better big triangle or numbers? I'm debating between the two. Thanks
Originally, I thought the triangle "military" model would be better, when I preordered both in October last year.

Now, with both on hand, the arabic 12 "civilian" model seems to be edged out, by just a bit. :)

It's a vintage strap. I bought it off eBay a number of years ago, possibly with a vintage dive watch (but I'm not really sure). Super supple, but tappers possibly a bit too much for 21st century standards...

You might have some luck searching for "vintage tropic" or some similar string. But I hear they've appreciated quite a bit these last years, so that might end up being dearer than a new alternative.

Blue triangle no date arrived. Not much to add besides echoing the exceptional quality and value of the piece. Just beautiful. Works nicely on all my strap options. Seems my pics are pretty big to upload here but I dropped a LOT over on the WUS thread.
Well done Borealis. Well done.

Might be replaced (for a while) by the Orange/Blue SeaFarer II tomorrow (I should pick it from the post office in the morning), but still rocking the Estoril and very much liking it!!!

And it's slowed down a bit, now it's only gaining 3.5 seconds a day (moving from decent to good... may still settle down to even better time keeping in the future).

I have been looking at different straps for my blue 300 and nothing yet has come close to the nato strap that came with the watch.

Hopefully Maria will start selling these incredibly well made nato straps in different colours.

my 2 cents

Agree.

I just received 2 pieces of $18 ToxicNato, and reference to 5 pieces of $12 CSW nato 2 months ago , 3 pieces of $16 Gnomon watches nato 2.5 years ago, and several other cheap $1 - $5 nato from ebay/amazon like websites, plus stock nato strap that came with my watches.

None, I repeat, none of them have such softness, which wears very comfortable on my wrist, and at the same time have the nice thickness like a zulu strap. I concluded these stock Estoril straps is simply the best I had come across.

I wonder who is the source. The last I heard was from ToxicNato. But the ones I just got seems very different from Borealis' stock nato. Maybe I bought the wrong ToxicNato model?

One point to note is that although it might be the softest, it might frail more easily. But for me, comfort comes first. Anyway, I don't mind to buy more to keep as spares, as nato are usually affordable.

The source is our factory that made the Estoril. We in fact helped ToxicNatos source this nato straps which were in the end developed for both in order to lower production costs.

Maria, just a thought/suggestion for the future .....

With all the rave reviews and great and fantastic reception of the Estoril, how about coming out with a Limited Edition Estoril Vintage version ?

All it needs is vintage ( Old Radium) lume on dial and hands, in date and no-date ....

I know you mentioned some time back the difficulty in matching the lume on hands and dial, but it really doesn't have to be a perfect match.

Everything else remains the same for this beauty. :)

Thoughts ?

Regards,

Dear Maria,

Could you please post a pic of your husband's SM300 and Estoril together? It would be pleasant to look at grand father and grand son showing their beauty side by side.
Estoril is the best tribute I can imagine.
Thank you very much
